1) Determine the forces in all the members of
the truss shown in figure.

2) A calibration of
length L is subjected to a couple M at its free end. Fiend the slope and
deflection of the end.
3) A cylindrical shell
of 1.3m diameter is made up of 18mm thick plates. Find the circumferential and
longitudinal stress in the plates, if the boiler is subjected to an internal
pressure of 2.4MPa. Take efficiency of the joints as 70%.
4) A pipe 400mm internal
diameter and 100mm thickness contains a fluid at a pressure of 8N/mm2 find
the maximum and minimum hoop stress across the section. Also, sketch the radial
pressure distribution and hoops stress distribution across the section.
